Ernest "Ernie" J. Horgan, 92, of 51 Hospital Rd., Baldwinville and formerly of 34 Greenwich Ave., Leominster, died Tuesday, May 8th in the Baldwinville Nursing Home following a brief illness.
Born in Fitchburg on October 11, 1914, he was the son of Michael and Margaret (Connors) Horgan.
He was a laborer employed by Crocker Paper Mills of Fitchburg for several years, retiring in 1979.
Ernest was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Church, Leominster. He was a member of the Westminster V.F.W. Douglas Hicks Post 7389 and the Fitchburg Sportsman's Club. Ernest enjoyed playing golf.
He was a WWII United States Navy Veteran and received the American Area Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
He leaves his godchild, Richard D. Horgan of Westminster; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Ernest was predeceased by his former wife, Dorothy (Lane) Horgan; a dear friend, Mary McCormack; 3 brothers, Daniel J. Horgan, Jerry Horgan and Francis M. Horgan.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 11th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Lake Church, 1400 Main Street, Leominster. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Fitchburg.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday, May 10th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
