Ernest J Cormier

Ernest J. Cormier, 90, of 265 West Street, Gardner died peacefully Wednesday, September 1st in Heywood Hospital, Gardner following a brief illness.

Born in Gardner on April 6, 1920, he was the son of the late George and Cyrianne (Maillet) Cormier.

Prior to retiring in 1985, Ernest was a Machine Operator employed by Nichols and Stone Manufacturing Company of Gardner for 33 years.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner and it's League of the Sacred Heart. Ernest was also a member of the V.F.W. Post 905 of Gardner.

He was a U.S. WWII Army - Air Corps Veteran and received the Good Conduct ribbon, EAME Campaign Ribbon with four battle stars, and the Victory Medal.

Ernest enjoyed working around the house, traveling to Canada and spending time with his family.

He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Laura M. (LeBlanc) Cormier who died December 11, 2008.

He leaves two sons, Georges J. Cormier of Sherbrooke, P.Q. Canada and Philip J. Cormier of Gardner; two daughters, Emelie M. Boudreau and her husband Thomas of Winchendon and Sarah M. Cappiello and her husband Gregory of Winchendon; three brothers, Emile Cormier of Gardner, Robert Cormier and his wife Ruth of Gardner and Ronald Cormier and his wife Kathy of Gardner; one sister, Florence Cormier of Baldwinville; one grandson, Thomas H. Boudreau, Jr; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by twin siblings, Charles and Eva Cormier, who died at a very young age.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 7th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.

Calling hours in the funeral home will be Tuesday, September 7th from 9:30 am to 10:30 am
