Emmanuel A. LaFond, 92, of 104 Church St., Gardner died Monday in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, following an illness.
Born in Gardner on March 25, 1911, he was the son of Henry and Marie (LaBonte) LaFond.
He was a cook employed by the former Gardner State Hospital for 15 years until retiring in 1975. He previously worked as an upholsterer for Conant-Ball Co. of Gardner for many years.
Mr. LaFond was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. He was a member of V.F.W. Ovila Case Post 905 of Gardner.
He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and received the Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon, American Campaign Ribbon and the Victory Medal.
He leaves his wife of 62 years, Yvonne (Boucher) LaFond of Gardner; 1 son, Raymond F. LaFond and his wife Linda of Gardner; 2 sisters, Louise Griswald of Bangor, ME and Lorraine Wiljaiken of Paris, TX; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer A. Reynolds and husband, Edward of Worcester, Karen M. LaFond of Weymouth and Stephanie R. LaFond of Brooklyn; 1 great-granddaughter, Jillian K. Reynolds of Worcester, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph LaFond and 2 sisters Alma Dupre and Laura Landry.
Funeral services will be held Thursday from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 166 Cross St., Gardner.
Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour at the funeral home will be Thursday from 9:30 a.m.
to 10:30 a.m.
