Emma C. (Carter) Ryburn, 97, of 370 West Street, Leominster, formerly of 61 Lake Street, Gardner, died peacefully Thursday, February 6, 2014 in the Life Care Center of Leominster.
Born in Leominster on April 29, 1916, she was the daughter of the late George and Hazel (Huckins) Carter.
Emma graduated from Commerce High School of Worcester with the Class of 1935.
She was employed by Food Basket of Springfield as a Produce Manager for 15 years, retiring in 1981. Emma was previously employed by J.C. Penney Company of Springfield as a Department Manager for several years.
Emma was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner. She was also a member of the Gardner Golden Agers.
She was an avid bowler and enjoyed line dancing.
Emma was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Harold G. Ryburn, who died April 17, 1985.
She leaves one son, Harold G. Ryburn and his wife Sandy of Belchertown; one daughter, Nancy L. Olearscyk of Leominster; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one brother, George Carter and by four sisters, Mary Paine, Hazel Graham, Dorothy Cormier and Marjorie Pochini.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, February 11th at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Life Care Center of Leominster, Activity Fund, 370 West Street, Leominster, MA 01453.
