Eileen L. (Fitzgerald) Bingham, 80, of Templeton, died peacefully Wednesday, February 15, 2017 in Heywood Hospital of Gardner.
Born in Salem, MA on April 2, 1936, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Blais) Fitzgerald.
Eileen attended St. Mary's Grammar School in Salem, MA, and graduated from Salem High School with the Class of 1954.
She was a member of Holy Cross Church of Templeton.
Eileen spent her life as a devoted wife and mother, and her greatest joy was her grandchildren. She loved the beach, and enjoyed spending time with family at their summer cottage in Manomet, MA. Eileen had a passion for decorating, and each of the traditional New England homes she lived in over the years were decorated to perfection and were always welcoming, comfortable and loving. Eileen was full of spirit and loved life. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and the pure happiness she radiated.
Eileen was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Billie R. Bingham, who died June 13, 2004.
She leaves two sons, James D. Bingham and his wife Mary of Naples, FL and Robert W. Bingham of Ashburnham; one daughter, Louisa J. Doyle and her significant other Steven Ravanis of Westminster; two sisters, Elizabeth Ann Roberts of Harrison Township, MI and Linda M. Milley-Leary and her husband William Leary of East Hampstead, NH; six grandchildren, Michael Doyle of Denver, CO, Patrick Doyle of the U.S. Navy, North Carolina, twins Andrea Bingham-Morrison and her husband Collin Morrison of Tallahassee, FL and Kelly Bingham-Wood and her husband Jonathan Wood of Wesley Chapel, FL, Cassandra Leslie and her husband Brian of Ashburnham and Sean Bingham of Ashburnham; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Eileen was predeceased by her brother, J. Robert Fitzgerald; son-in-law, Richard P. Doyle who died in 2006; and daughter-in-law Jackie Bingham who died in 2009.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 6th at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, 25 Lake Avenue, Templeton.
There are no calling hours. Friends and family are asked to report directly to the church the morning of the service.
In memory of Eileen's love for animals, especially her own dog 'Sophie', her family requests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Ahimsa Haven Animal Rescue, 381 Baldwinville Road, Suite A, Templeton, MA 01468.
