Edwin E. Orre, 88, of 2 Church Street, Gardner, died peacefully Tuesday, January 21st in the Legend Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Gardner, with his daughter by his side.
Born in Gardner on June 20, 1925, he was the son of the late August and Ada (Kvarnstrom) Orre.
Edwin graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1943.
He was a United States WWII Navy Veteran and received the WWII Victory Medal and the American Theatre Medal.
He was an inspector employed by Simplex Time Recorder of Gardner for 38 years, retiring in 1985. He was previously employed by Siebert's Manufacturing Company of Gardner, and for the Public Works Department of the City of Gardner.
Edwin was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church of Gardner. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 129 of Gardner and the Mason's Hope Lodge of Gardner.
Edwin enjoyed rug hooking, photography and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.
He was predeceased by his wife, Suzanne M. (Duval) Orre who died in 2000.
Edwin leaves one daughter, Deborah J. Orre and her significant other, Thomas Montagno of Royalston; two grandsons, Jason Bolio of Waltham and Jeremy Bolio of Queens, NY; two great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Stephen Bolio; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Harry W. Orre and Carl Orre.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 25th at 10:00 a.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. Pastor David Cote will officiate. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours will be Friday, January 24th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Legends Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Attn: Kevin Morris, Owner, 59 Eastwood Circle, Gardner, MA, 01440. These funds will be used for the Advancement of Nursing Education.
