Edward J. Sentabar

Edward J. Sentabar, 80, of 20 Sunrise Lane, Gardner, died Thursday, November 25th in the Leo P. LaChance Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing, Gardner, following an illness.
Born in Baldwinville on May 24, 1924, he was the son of Ernest and Eugenia (Gallegher) Sentabar.
He was a backhoe operator employed by the City of Gardner Cemetery Department for 23 years, retiring in 1981.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. Mr. Sentabar was a member of V.F.W. Ovila Post 905 of Gardner, was a member of the Napoleon Club and played softball for its team and was also a member of the Gardner Golfing League. He was an avid bowler having won the Gardner News Tournament seven consecutive weeks. He appeared on "Championship Bowling" on Channel 5 and won 6 times.
He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and received the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon and the Victory Medal.
He leaves his wife of 54 years, Rita F. (Beauregard) Sentabar of Gardner; a sister, Edna Colburn of Fitchburg; a father-in-law Raoul G. Beauregard of Gardner; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by 3 brothers, Ernest, Raymond and Fredrick Sentabar all of Fitchburg and 3 sisters, Marion Avery of Fitchburg, Helen Gagne of Chelmsford and Evelyn Collins of Fitchburg.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 29th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday, November 28th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
