Edward Andrew Safstrom, 83, of 116 Church St., Gardner, died peacefully Monday, December 3rd in Quabbin Valley Health Care, Athol.
Born in Gardner on May 15, 1924, he was the son of Erwin A. and Leona (Dyer) Safstrom.
Prior to becoming disabled in 1970, he was a machine tender operator employed by the former Warmer's Chair Co. of Gardner.
Mr. Safstrom was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. He enjoyed woodworking, carving, walking and playing cards.
He leaves a son, Kirk Johnson; 2 daughters, Lori Lingicy of Connecticut and Debbie Burdon of Ohio; 2 nephews, Daniel Nichols of Brooksville, FL, David Nichols of Nashua, NH; 2 nieces, Patricia Couture of Gardner, Donna Amadon of Newport News, VA; five grandchildren; several greatnieces and greatnephews. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Carl Safstrom of California, Donald Safstrom of Los Angeles, CA, and a sister, Ester Boucher of Gardner.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 5th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 135 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday, December 5th from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
