Edward Joseph Poirier

April 19, 1912 — January 10, 2005

Edward Joseph "Pete Perry" Poirier, 92, of 62 Otter River Rd., Gardner, died Monday, January 10th in his residence following an illness.
Born in Gardner on April 19, 1912, he was the son of Wilfred and Sylvia (Allain) Poirier.
Mr. Poirier was a fireman employed by Heywood Hospital for 15 years, retiring in 1985. He was previously a fireman employed by the former Gardner State Hospital.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. In recent years his favorite past times were working around his home, yard and pool. He enjoyed many visits from family, swimming, reading, as well as watching news and educational television programs. He enjoyed feeding and watching the many animals and birds that frequented his yard. He enjoyed many lunches and dinners out with his wife Rita and frequent morning visits with friends at McDonald's.
Mr. Poirier was a World War II U.S. Coast Guard Veteran.
He leaves his loving wife of 67 years, Rita M. (Gallant) Poirier of Gardner; a beloved daughter, Elaine J. Alisauskas of Gardner; 1 brother, Ernest Poirier and 2 sisters, Rachel B. Healey and Lorraine M. Trinque all of Gardner; 5 grandchildren to whom he meant so much, Michael Alisauskas, Lisa Alisauskas, Stanley Alisauskas, Jr. all of Gardner, Catherine Alisauskas of Valinda, CA and Jeffrey Alisauskas of Baldwinville; 8 great-grandchildren Kerrin, Joseph, Kila, Nathan, Mikayla, Allison, Zachary and Merynn; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by 4 brothers, Gerald, Clarence, Francis Poirier, Henry Perry and 1 sister, Geraldine Reilly.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 13th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday, January 12th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
