Edward “Ted” G. Murphy, 68, of Gardner, died unexpectedly Friday, August 27, 2021, in his residence after battling an illness.
Born in Wareham, Massachusetts on November 13, 1952, he was the son of the late Maurice G. and Ivy A. (Holt) Murphy. He graduated from Bourne High School with the Class of 1971 and later received an Associate’s Degree. Ted was a United States Coast Guard Vietnam War Veteran serving from 1973 to 1977, where he received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He went on to have a successful sales career in the furniture and automobile industries.
Ted was a bookworm and loved visiting the library to educate himself, keep up on current events, and to just read a good book. But the time he loved and treasured the most was spent with his family.
Ted is survived by his son, Ryan Weinstein of Centerville, two daughters, Heather Shingleton of Dover, NH and Shannon Frandsen of Cape Cod and now residing in Thailand; a sister, Jerolyn Deslauriers and her husband Wayne of Winchendon; three grandchildren, Isabel and Chloe Frandsen and Tobin Shingleton; nieces and nephews, Michael, Matthew, and Amy Deslauriers; an aunt, Alberta Gregory of N. Dartmouth; and several cousins.
Calling Hours will be held Monday, October 25, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 25, 2021, at 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
Burial with Full Military Honors will be held Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at 12:45 p.m. in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue, Bourne, MA.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Montachusett Veterans Outreach Center, 268 Central Street, Gardner, MA 01440, or to the Levi Heywood Memorial Library, 55 West Lynde Street, Gardner, MA 01440. Please reference in memory of Edward G. Murphy.
