Edward Hammond

Edward Denis Lynwood Hammond, 77, of Templeton, died peacefully Friday, July 15, 2022, in Tufts Medical Center, Boston, surrounded by his family.

Born in Fitchburg on July 16, 1944, he was the son of the late Lynwood and Louise (LeBlanc) Hammond. Edward was employed by the Facilities Maintenance Department at Heywood Hospital of Gardner for many years prior to his retirement.

Edward was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church of Templeton. He enjoyed playing the guitar, working on cars, and playing scratch tickets. Edward’s greatest joy was found when he was with his family, treasuring all the special moments they had together.

Edward is survived by his two sons, Edward T. Hammond and his wife Shellie of Phillipston and Jesse J. Hammond and his wife Aimee of Westminster; a daughter, Debra A. Pond of Gardner; seven grandchildren, E.J. Hammond, Jacob W. Hammond, Dillon T. Hammond, Gabrielle M. Hammond, Julia M. Hammond, Jordan E. Pond and Nathan T. Hammond; a great-granddaughter on the way; a brother Tommy Clarke and his wife Gail of Fitchburg; two sisters, Leona Lee of Gardner and Leilla “Punky” Tarr and her husband George of Gardner; three special nephews, Bo and Frank Tomer and Jay Smith; several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his wife and love of his life of 50-years, Nancy A. (Smith) Hammond, who died in 2013.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial will be held Thursday, July 21, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in Pine Grove Cemetery, Patriots Road, Templeton, MA.  All are invited and welcome to attend.

Calling Hours will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.in the funeral home.
