Edward J. Garneau

Edward J. Garneau, 85, of 59 Eastwood Circle, Gardner, formerly of 104 Church Street, Gardner and 85 Ken Drive, Gardner for 43 years, died peacefully Sunday, October 20, 2013 in the Legend Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Gardner.
Born in Gardner on September 5, 1928, he was the son of the late Archie and Stacy (Poliks) Garneau.
Edward attended Gardner High School and graduated from Worcester Trade School in 1949.
He was a printer employed by Adams Printing Corporation of Templeton for 40 years, retiring in 1991.
Edward was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner. He was also a member of the Polish American Citizens Club of Gardner.
He enjoyed golfing, bowling and carpentry. Edward was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Boston Bruins. He enjoyed traveling; especially in New England and Hawaii. Edward most enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Rita L. (Jean) Garneau, who died September 17, 2011.
Edward leaves two sons, Michael E. Garneau and his wife Judy of Manchester, NH, Francis N. Garneau and his wife Joan of Gardner; one daughter, Ruth A. Hirons and her husband Mark of Gardner; five grandchildren, Derek Hirons, Justin Hirons, Melissa Croteau, Jared Garneau and Tarah Garneau; one great-granddaughter, Anastasia Croteau; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one brother, Richard Garneau.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 24th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours in the funeral home will be Thursday, October 24th from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Legend Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Activity Fund, 59 Eastwood Circle, Gardner, MA 01440.
