Edmond V. Rachupka, 90, of Newport, RI, formerly of Westminster, died peacefully Wednesday, May 8, 2024, in Newport Hospital, Newport, RI surrounded by his family.
Born in Gardner on October 14, 1933, he was the son of the late Paul and Leokadja (Pienkowski) Rachupka. He graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1951 and from Worcester Boy’s Trade School with the Class of 1954. Edmond was a United States Army Veteran serving from 1956 to 1958, where he received the Good Conduct Medal. He was a letter carrier employed by the United States Postal Service in Fitchburg for 22 years until his retirement in 1996. He was previously employed by Colonial Press of Clinton for 19 years as a linotype operator.
Edmond was a parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor Church of Westminster. He was a member of the former Polish American Veterans Chapter 1, NALC- Mail Carriers Union Branch 12, Gardner Chapter of AARP and the Gardner Golden Agers. Edmond loved to bowl, play tennis and travel. His greatest joy was his family, treasuring all the special moments spent together.
Edmond is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elaine M. (Ducharme) Rachupka of Newport, RI; a son, Craig J. Rachupka and his wife Cheryl of Tiverton, RI; two grandchildren, Brooke and Aubrey Rachupka, both of Tiverton, RI; several nieces, nephews, cousins.
He was predeceased by a son, Dean P. Rachupka, who died in 1999; and a sister, Irene Polywacz.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 17, 2024, with a Mass at 12:00 p.m. in St. Edward the Confessor Church, 10 Church Street, Westminster, MA. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Ellis Road, Westminster, MA.
Calling Hours will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
