Edgar J. Richard, 89, of 17A Knowlton St., Gardner, died peacefully Friday, May 5th in his residence after an illness.
Born in Woodland, ME on December 31, 1916, he was the son of Zephirin and Sarah (Bourgeois) Richard.
Mr. Richard was last employed as a woodworker by Nichols & Stone Co. of Gardner until retiring in 1981. He was a pressman previously employed by the former Thayer Mfg. Co. of Gardner until 1976.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, V.F.W. Ovila Case Post 905 of Gardner, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 747 of Gardner and the Gardner Golden Agers. Mr. Richard enjoyed skiing, line dancing and swimming.
Mr. Richard was a WW II U.S. Army veteran and received the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon.
He leaves his wife of 64 years, Alice M. (Boudreau) Richard of Gardner; 2 daughters, Linda M. Stone and husband Roland of Gardner, Brenda M. Lehtinen and husband Wayne of Charlotte, NC; 4 grandchildren, Kenneth Stone, Sharon Como, Kristin Intemann and Duane Lehtinen; 4 great-grandchildren, Matthew and Lauren Como, Madison and Brady Intemann; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a daughter, Marsha L. Lison of Gardner who died in 1995, 1 brother, Alfred J. Richard and 2 sisters, Irene M. Robillard and Alice Richard.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 8th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 11:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday, May 8th from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
