Dwight R. Farr, 84, of 32 Hospital Hill Road, Gardner, formerly of 40 N. Main Street, E. Templeton, died peacefully Thursday, January 13, 2011 in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner following a long illness.
Born in Templeton on December 20, 1926, he was the son of the late William and Ethel (Rich) Farr.
Dwight was a Millroom Foreman employed by Conant Ball Company of Gardner for 30 years, retiring in 1988.
He graduated from Templeton High School with the Class of 1944. He was a member of Holy Cross Church in Templeton, where he served as a Lector for many years. He was a longtime member of the Templeton Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a member of the former Mr. and Mrs. Club of Templeton.
He enjoyed woodworking, taking bus trips with his wife and watching College football and game shows on television. He treasured time spent with his family.
Dwight was predeceased by his wife of 50 yeas, Theresa A. (Laroche) Farr who died May 13, 2004.
He leaves one son, William H. Farr and his wife Virginia of Rindge, NH; two daughters, Kathleen A. Gardner of East Templeton and Patricia M. Campbell and her husband Dennis of Jaffrey, NH; six grandchildren, Stephanie Gardner of Athol, Robert Gardner of E. Templeton, Daniel Campbell of Jaffrey, NH, Amanda Farr of Chevy Chase, MD, Katie Farr of Rindge, NH and Elizabeth Farr of Rindge, NH; one great-grand-daughter, Emily Abram of Athol. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Kenneth Gardner who died December 9, 2010; two brothers, Douglas and Bruce Farr and by one sister, Janet Paige.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 17th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, Lave Avenue, E. Templeton. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Templeton.
Calling hours in the funeral home are Sunday, January 16th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
