Dr. Marilyn L. (Krall) Allen, 95, of Lake City, Florida, formerly of Gardner, died peacefully Wednesday, March 8, 2023, in Solaris Health Care of Lake City, Florida after an illness.
Born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on December 5, 1927, to the late Leonard and Kardena (Gilbertson) Krall. She graduated from Notre Dame Academy, Mitchell, South Dakota, South Dakota State University where she received the Alumni Golden Emeritus Award, and Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, Illinois from where she received her doctorate degree. Along with her husband Dr. Ernest L. Allen who also practiced optometry, they had their own practice for 40-years in Nashua, New Hampshire.
She was a former parishioner of Annunciation Parish/Holy Rosary Church, Gardner until her move to Florida. She was a former member of the South Dakota Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. She was a current member of the Montachusett Organ Society.
Dr. Allen leaves behind two sons, James J. Allen and his wife Ruth of Lake City, Florida, and Steve M. Allen of Murrells Inlet, SC; one grandson, Michael H. Allen and one great-grandson, Hunter K. Allen of Barrington, NH; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is predeceased by her husband of 65-years, Dr. Ernest L. Allen, who died in 2016.
A Calling Hour will be held Friday, March 17, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 17, 2023, from the funeral home with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA . Burial at Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner, MA, will be held at the convenience of the family.
