Dorothy L. Jordan (St. John)

August 24, 1917 — March 29, 2008

Dorothy Louise (St. John) Jordan, 90, of 1465 Hooksett Road, Hooksett, NH and 26 Joslin Road, Surry, NH, formerly of 2 Walnut Street, Baldwinville, MA, died Saturday, March 29th in Elliot Hospital, Manchester, NH following a brief illness.

Born in Londonderry, NH on August 24, 1917, she was the daughter of Arthur and Olive (Gushea) St. John.

She graduated from Keene High School in 1933 at the age of 15.

She worked most of her life in woolen mills as an accomplished "drawing-in girl". She worked in the Homestead Woolen Mill in West Swanzey, NH for many years and at the Troy Mills of Troy, NH for 8 years, retiring in 1969.

She enjoyed boating, dancing, crafts, family and especially her children and grandchildren. She once said her biggest accomplishment was her three daughters. She was always supportive and worked hard to help her children and grandchildren accomplish their goals. She spent many hours covering hangers for her family and friends to enjoy.

Her husband of 44 years, George W. Jordan, died in 2003.

She leaves her daughters, Patricia R. LaPlante and her husband Dennis of Magnolia, TX, Helen L. Collier and her husband A. Scott of Surry, NH, Martha E. Deering and her husband John Brock of Hooksett, NH; a stepson, Malcolm L. Jordan and his wife Susan of Ajo, AZ; a sister, Blanch E. Jefts of Keene, NH; 15 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Celebration of Her Life will be held Saturday, April 5th at 11:00 a.m. in the Congregational Church of Hooksett, 5 Veterans Drive, Hooksett, NH. Reverend Dave Richardson will officiate. Burial in Mountain View Cemetery, Swanzey, NH will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to Home Health Care Hospice and Community Services, PO Box 564, Keene, NH 03431 or to the Congregational Church of Hooksett Memorial Fund, 5 Veterans Drive, Hooksett, NH 03106.

The Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA 01440 is in charge of the arrangements.
