Dorothy G."Dot" Griffin

Dorothy G. "Dot" (Duke) Griffin, 73, of 392 Mill Street, Gardner, died peacefully Sunday, July 22, 2012 in her home surrounded by family.
Dorothy was born in Gardner on October 19, 1938, the daughter of the late Ralph H. and Dora F. (Burrage) Duke.
She was employed at Gardner Ten Pins as the manager of the snack bar for 16 years. She was previously employed by Simplex Time Recorder, Gardner as an assembler and by Nichols and Stone Manufacturing Co., Gardner as a furniture decorator.
Dorothy received her GED in 1985. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gardner, and was a member of various church groups. Dorothy was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Women's Auxiliary, Aerie #747 of Gardner.
She enjoyed gardening, bowling and traveling. She was fond of lighthouses and enjoyed the beach. She liked to spend time watching television, her favorites being channel 5 and cooking shows. Dorothy was an avid NASCAR fan. Her most treasured times were spent with her family, especially family gatherings at "Camp Gram".
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Russell L. Griffin, who died October 14, 1997.
She leaves one son, Gary A. Griffin and his wife Lisa of Leominster; two daughters, Robin L. LaChance of Gardner and Carol J. Couture and her husband Joseph of Orange; one brother, John H. Duke and his wife Kathie of Gardner; one sister, Elinor Raymond and her husband Donald of Gardner; six grandchildren, Andrea LeBlanc, Ricky LaChance II, Jessica Marigliano, Joseph A. Couture III, Zachary Wojdak and Angela Wojdak; three great-grandchildren, Aaron LeBlanc, Damien Boudreau and Anthony Marigliano; three nieces, and several cousins.
Graveside Services will be held Saturday, July 28th at 10:00 a.m. in Wildwood Cemetery, West Street, Gardner.
Calling hours in the funeral home will be Friday, July 27th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gardner Visiting Nursing Association, Hospice Program, 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA 01440 or the First Baptist Church of Gardner, 14 High Street, Gardner, MA 01440.
