Doris M. (Cormier) Collette, 78, of Gardner died Tuesday, March 19, 2013 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner surrounded by her loving family, from complications of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.
Born in Ste. Marie, N.B. Canada on April 27, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Anne (Allain) Cormier.
Doris was employed by Simplex Time Recorder of Gardner for 18 years, retiring in 1989.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner.
Doris' hobbies included gardening, crafting, knitting and crocheting. She loved the ocean, which reminded her of her early childhood in St. Marie. She also enjoyed going to flea markets and antiquing in Maine. Doris adored her grandchildren, and cherished spending time with her family. She will be remembered as a strong woman who greatly valued and showed compassion, understanding, kindness and generosity toward others. Doris will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves her husband of 60 years, Walter J. Collette of Gardner; two sons, Alan V. Collette and his wife Barbara Aucoin of Westminster and John W. Collette and his partner Martin Gottlieb of Stockton Springs, Maine; two daughters, Jacqueline T. Collette of Amherst and Ann Marie Collette and her husband Michael Diamond of Amherst; one brother, Vincent Leger and his wife Dorilla of Winchendon; three sisters, Bernice Racette and her husband Donald of Templeton, Marie Packard and her husband Charles of Ashburnham and Gloria Richard and her husband Omer of Gardner; two grandchildren, Emily and Joshua Collette; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers, Norman Cormier and Gerald Leger.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 23rd from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 GlenAllen Street, Winchendon at a later date.
A calling hour will be Saturday, March 23rd from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
