Dorinda Joan Billings

Dorinda (Rindi) Joan Billings, 71, of Lunenburg, died peacefully after a long battle with cancer, on Thursday, June 23, 2022, in her home surrounded by her family.

Born in Brockton on June 20, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Roland Joseph and Meredith (Porter) Turcotte of Abington, Massachusetts. She was educated in the Abington School System and graduated from Abington High School in 1969.

Rindi was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  Throughout her life, she attended and was active in several units, namely the Hingam Ward, Foxboro Ward, Harrogate, England Branch, and the West Bridgewater Ward.  At her death, she was a member of the Gardner Ward. She enjoyed working as a Seamstress making an array of items including Halloween costumes, wedding dresses, quilts, Easter dresses, and costumes for drama groups, including shows for Abington High School. Rindi also loved to work on her family history. She was a homemaker whose greatest treasure was her family.  Rindi had a love for music.  She loved playing the guitar and the piano and had a beautiful singing voice.

Rindi is survived by her husband of 48-years, James Billings of Lunenburg; two sons and five daughters: Bejamin I. Billings and his wife Christina of South Carolina, Daniel A. Billings and his wife Wendy of Utah, Theressa W. Schroeder and her husband Alexander of Washington, Rebeckah L. Billings and her partner Rick of Massachusetts, Timna J Sandoval and her husband Samuel of Massachusetts, Keilah C. Billings of Louisiana, Palestina T. Baronas and her husband Barry of Massachusetts; twenty-three grandchildren;  and a nephew, Alan Van Tassel.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Deborah.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 634 Pearl Street, Gardner, MA. Burial will be held on Monday, June 27, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Mount Vernon Cemetery, 277 Central Street, Abington, MA.

Calling Hours will be held Saturday, June 25, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the church.
