Dora M. (Johnson) Melanson, 87, of 32 Hospital Hill Rd., Gardner died peacefully Saturday, May 21st in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner, following a long illness.
Born in Gardner on June 26, 1923, she was the daughter of Arthur and Marguerite (Arsenault) Johnson.
She was employed in the housekeeping department for sixteen years at William Backus Hospital, Norwich, CT until her retirement in 1984.
Dora was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church.
She enjoyed knitting and playing card games, especially bunko dice.
She leaves her husband of 64 years, Leo J. Melanson of Gardner; a brother, Azor Johnson and his wife Joanne of Moncton, NB, Canada; a sister, Lily LeBlanc and her husband Ovila of Moncton, NB, Canada; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by 3 brothers, Gerald, Laurie and Wilmer Johnson.
Graveside service and burial will be Thursday, May 26th at 1:30 p.m. in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner. There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Rosary School, 135 Nichols St., Gardner, MA 01440.
