Donald R."Don" Nyman

Donald R. "Don" Nyman, 80, of 2 Old Town Farm Road, Westminster, died Sunday, March 31, 2013 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, 55 Lake Ave North, Worcester, after a sudden illness.
Born in Gardner on November 5, 1932, he was the son of the late Edward and Ruth (Wyman) Nyman.
Don was employed by Simonds Saw and Steel Company of Fitchburg as a head-beveler for 38 years. He was previously employed by Heywood Wakefield Company of Gardner.
He was a United States Korean War Army Veteran and received the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
Don was a member of the First Congregational Church of Westminster. He was also a member of the Swedish Social Club of Westminster, the VFW Douglas Hicks Post 7389 of Westminster, Daniel Simonds Recreation Club and the Daniel Simonds Veterans Association, both of Fitchburg.
He enjoyed photography, cribbage, bridge and woodworking. He was a dedicated New England sports fan, adored his dog Chloe and cherished spending time with his family.
Don was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth (Laughton) Nyman who died in 2007.
He leaves one son, Scott R. Nyman of Mortonville, PA; three daughters, Dawn E. Perron and her husband Steven of Fitchburg, Karin S. R. Farrow of Lancaster and Cynthia A. Olliff and her husband Barry of Coatesville, PA; nine grandchildren, Kyle, Kory, Andrew, Benjamin, Daulton, Tyler, Kristen, Joshua and Ryan; seven great-grandchildren, Kameron, Tylar, Carter, Cadence, Landon, Kaylee and Coleton; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one son, Andrew E. Nyman; one brother, Edward Nyman and by two sisters, Shirley Greenlaw and Grace Pielock.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 5th at 11:00 a.m. in the First Congregational Church, 138 Main Street, Westminster. Burial will be in Woodside Cemetery, Westminster.
Calling hours will be Thursday, April 4th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
