Donald E. "Jimmy" Hartley, 74, of 37 Crawford Street, Gardner died peacefully Friday, February 4, 2011 surrounded by his family in his residence, following a long illness.
Born in Bangor, Maine on November 21, 1936, he was the son of the late Donald E. and Maxine (Brewer) Hartley.
Jimmy attended the former Loughlin High School in Westminster.
He was an Occupational Therapist employed by North Central Human Services in Gardner for 30 years, retiring in 1999. He was previously a Mental Health Aide employed by Gardner State Hospital and a Para-Professional employed by Crystal House in Gardner.
Jimmy enjoyed working with wood, model airplanes, working on cars, small engine repair, fishing and bicycle riding. He loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. He was involved with the Boy Scouts of America. He most enjoyed spending time with his family and offering them encouragement.
He leaves his wife of 49 years, Beatrice V. (LaBonte) Hartley of Gardner; one son, Joseph E. Hartley and his girlfriend Debbie Fowler of Gardner; two sisters, Barbara McConnell and her husband George of Portsmouth, NH and Joanne Hajowski of Winchendon; two grandchildren, Tyler E. Hartley and Alex R. Hartley of Gardner; one great-great granddaughter, Lauren P. Hartley of Gardner; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 12th at 5:00 p.m. in Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner.
A calling hour in the funeral home will be Saturday, February 12th from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
