Dolor Vautour, 79, of 80 Oak St., Gardner, died Sunday, January 13th in his residence surrounded by his family following a short illness.

Born in St. Ignace NB, Canada on January 18, 1928, he was the son of Albert and Elenore (Gallant) Vautour.

Mr. Vautour was a Quality Control Inspector employed by Collier-Keyworth Co. of Gardner for 30 years until retiring in 1987. He was also a custodian employed by the G.F.A. Credit Union of Gardner for 25 years.

He received his GED in 1970.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, was a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of its League of Sacred Heart Society.

Dolor was an important part of the annual Holy Rosary Bazaar and helped in the 'poutine factory.' Mr. Vautour was a member of the Acadien Social Club. He enjoyed sports, especially hockey, and was a loyal Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. He spent his spare time doing carpentry and traveling.

He leaves his wife of 53 years, Bernadette (Bourque) Vautour of Gardner; 3 sons, Daniel J. Vautour and his wife Margo of Downing Town, PA, Raymond J. Vautour and his wife JoAnn of St. College, PA; John Vautour and his wife Laura of Alpharetta, GA; 2 daughters, Patricia M. LeBlanc and her husband Joseph of Gardner, Linda M. Morris and her husband David of Templeton; 1 brother, Gerard Vautour and his wife Jeannine of Gardner; 4 sisters, Ernestine Johnson of St. Ignace, NB, Delia Daigle of Gardner, Germaine Comeau and her husband Fernand of Gardner, Rosella Ouellet and her husband Francis of Hubbardston; a stepsister, Roseanna Thomas of St. John, NB, Canada; 13 grandchildren, Matthew, Lisa, Christopher LeBlanc, Willem and Martin Maaskant, Michael, Elizabeth, Emma, Fran Vautour, Lauren and Josh Morris, Sarah and Jonathan Vautour; 1 great-granddaughter, Amaiya LeBlanc; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 17th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.

Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday, January 16th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
