Diane M. (Therrien) Richard, 62, of 32 Jean Street, Gardner died Tuesday, March 4th in the Leo P. LaChance Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing, Gardner, surrounded by her family, following a long struggle with Lupus.

Born in Gardner on March 24, 1945, she was the daughter of Paul L and Irene C. (Cormier) Therrien.

Diane was a Paraprofessional employed by the Gardner School Department for 11 years, until retiring in 2007. She was also a floral designer employed by Valley Florist in Gardner.

Mrs. Richard was a 1962 graduate of Gardner High School, Gardner. She received an Associate Degree in Business from Stevens Business College in 1964.

Diane was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner. She was a member of the Gardner Chapter of A.A.R.P., the Gardner Golden Agers, Holy Family Guild, a social member of the American Legion Post 129 of Gardner and was on the Board of Directors and past President of the Gardner Little League.

Diane enjoyed reading, playing cards, and she loved all sports. She especially enjoyed time spent with her family.

She leaves her husband of 41 years, Ronald E. Richard of Gardner; two daughters, Angela R. Fournier and her husband Thomas of New Salem, MA and Paula I. Richard of Gardner; one brother, Ronald P. Therrien and his wife Patricia of Gardner; a sister-in-law, Rachel C. Therrien of Gardner; three grandchildren, G. Gilman Keith VI of Gardner, Allen T. Richard-Fournier and Victoria I. Richard-Fournier both of New Salem; one aunt, Mathilda Therrien of Baldwinville and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one brother, Paul L. Therrien, Jr., who died in 1999.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 7th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a mass at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.

Calling hours in the funeral home will be Thursday, March 6th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
