Dennis "Blackie" Blacquiere, 60, of 116 Church Street, Gardner died unexpectedly Tuesday, June 23rd in his residence from complications of diabetes.
Born in St. John, N.B. Canada on September 14, 1948, he was the son of the late Rene and Irene (Bourgeois) Blacquiere.
Dennis was an automotive technician employed for several years by New England Instrument, Inc., of Woonsocket, RI, retiring in 1985 due to illness. He was previously employed by Sears Roebuck & Co. of Leominster.
Dennis graduated from Gardner High School, Gardner with the Class of 1966. He attended Mount Wachusett Community College, Gardner.
Dennis was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner. He was a member, past President and Director of the Acadien Social Club. Gardner. He was a member of the Deep Sea Club of Gardner, the Templeton Fish and Game Club, Inc. of Templeton and the Otter River Sportsman's Club of Otter River.
Dennis enjoyed fishing, especially smelt fishing and deep-sea fishing. He enjoyed attending Fiddlers Festivals. Dennis was a car enthusiast, and spent much time tinkering with cars and attending car auctions. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with family.
He leaves one daughter, Michelle L. MacAloney of East Templeton; one brother, Laurie J. Blacquiere and his wife Ann Marie J. of Baldwinville; two grandchildren, Tamara L. Hayes and Trevor J. MacAloney both of East Templeton; two aunts, Marie Roy of Moncton, N.B. Canada and Delia Hachey of Bouctouche, N.B. Canada; one uncle, Alyre and his wife Sally LeBlanc of New Bedford; two nephews, Gary J. Blacquiere of Gardner and Stephen J. Blacquiere of Baldwinville; and his former wife, Rena M. (Bouthot) Nelson of East Templeton.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, July 1st at 1:00 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. Rev. Andre Dargis of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner will officiate. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour will be held Wednesday, July 1st from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
