Denise St. Laurent

Denise A. (Robichaud) St. Laurent, 59, of 81 Eastwood Circle, Gardner, died Monday, November 27th in her residence, following a lengthy illness.

Born in Gardner on August 28, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anita (Trottier) Robichaud.

Denise was a Certified Financial Planner for American Express Financial Advisors in Gardner for 16 years, retiring in 2005. She was recognized for many professional achievements, including being named the top financial planner in New England for American Express and was awarded a trip to the Caribbean for her accomplishments. She was also a licensed real estate broker. She was president of the Montachusett Estate Council and a member of the Women's Council of Realtors.

Denise graduated from Gardner High School with the class of 1965. In 1967, she received an Associate's Degree in business administration from Mount Wachusett Community College, Gardner. In 1984, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Fitchburg State College with a Bachelor's Degree in business administration and a minor in economics.

Denise was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.. She served on the board of directors for the Gardner Council on Aging, she belonged to the Friends of the Library, and volunteered with the Serve Sharing distribution program at the Gardner Senior Center. She was active with the Chair City Chapter of AARP, and served on its board, was assistant treasurer and was a two term treasurer. She was also on its Scholarship Committee, Community Service Award Committee, and the Massachusetts AARP Andrus Award Committee. She also served two terms as a member of the Gardner School Committee.

Denise was an active participant in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life in Gardner and was part of the Breast Cancer Support Group.

Denise enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling. She enjoyed playing golf, and was on the Gardner Women's League at Gardner Municipal Golf Course and played with her husband , Roland at Templewood Golf Course in Templeton.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Roland R. St. Laurent of Gardner; one son, Philip P. Mailloux and his wife Kathleen of Rutland; one daughter, Karen L. St. Laurent and her husband James P. McGrath of Worcester; two brothers, David Robichaud and his wife Judy of Bonita Springs, FL, and Ronald Robichaud and his wife Sally of Ocean Pointe, NC; one sister, Donna Whittaker and her husband Frank of Baytown, TX; one granddaughter, Emily Denise Mailloux of Rutland; an aunt, Evelyn VanderMeer of Springfield MA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 2nd from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 166 Cross Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon at a later date.

Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday, December 1st from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
