Denise M.""D"" Koester-Zukatis

Denise M. "D" Koester-Zukatis, 41, of 51 Halford Street, Gardner died peacefully Monday, August 27, 2012 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, 55 Lake Avenue North, surrounded by her family, following a long, courageous battle with breast cancer.
Denise was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 24, 1970, the daughter of Gloria (Hudson) Koester.
Prior to taking a leave of absence due to her illness, Denise was the Supervisor of the "Help Desk" at Fresenius Medical Center in Lexington for eleven years. She was previously a Phlebotomist at Lowell General Hospital, Lowell.
Denise graduated from Hamady High School in Flint, Michigan with the Class of 1989. She later took courses from the University of Phoenix.
Denise enjoyed gardening, camping and barbeques. Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family and children.
Besides her mother, Gloria (Hudson) Koester of Toledo, OH, she leaves her husband of five years, James A. Zukatis of Gardner; one son, Colin M. Carr of Gardner; one daughter, Brianna L. Koester of Gardner; two stepsons, Anthony M. and Brandon M. Zukatis of Milford; three brothers, Richie Koester, Robert McNeely and Joe Hankins; three sisters, Debbie McNeely of Toledo, OH and Diana Strickland of Winter Haven, FL and Rachel Sutton; Tom and Aunt Becky of Ohio; Aunt Beth and Uncle Mel of Toledo, OH; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves the father of her children, Michael Carr of Flint, MI.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, September 7th at 11:00 a.m. in Mission Street Congregational Church, 15 Mission Street, Gardner. Following the Services there will be a Celebration of Denise's Life at 51 Halford Street, Gardner.
Memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Sara's Smiles Team, 81 Church Street, Gardner, MA 01440.
