David W. "Dave" Nadzak, 50, of 14 River Road, Otter River died Friday, September 21, 2012 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, University Campus, Worcester, following a long and courageous battle with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, Type IV.
Dave was born in Binghamton, NY on October 13, 1961, the son of the late George and Clare V. (Peskur) Nadzak.
At the time of his death he was employed by Maki Corporation of Gardner as a Computer I.T. Director for nine years. He was previously employed by Simplex Time Recorder of Gardner.
Dave graduated from North Binghamton High School, NY with the Class of 1979. He received his Associates Degree in Computer Engineering from Devry Institute of Technology in Ohio, the former Ohio University.
Dave was a member of Rescue Assembly of God Church in Leominster, MA.
He enjoyed watching movies, going to the gym, cars and computers. He was an avid collector of elephant statues, and in his earlier years a collector of model trains; his all-time favorite movie was the cartoon version of the "Grinch That Stole Christmas". He also enjoyed fishing with his daughter, and loved great dining with his family.
Dave was a former planning board member with the Town of Templeton, and a former member of the Templeton Lions Club. He was a valiant pioneer in the study of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.
Dave leaves his wife of six years, Selma M. (DasNeves) Nadzak of Otter River; one daughter, Abigail A. Nadzak of Baldwinville; one adopted stepson, Anderson Nadzak of Otter River; one stepdaughter, Nicole S. Mosier of Otter River; one brother, William G. Nadzak and his wife Nancy of Woodland, TX; a special sister-in-law, Sonia Tofte; one step-granddaughter, Chloe; two cherished nephews, Cassiano and Satoshi Dazai; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves his beloved friend, Julie A. Sowersby of Baldwinville; and his "brother by heart", Jeffrey A. Olney of Cranston, RI.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 27th at 11:00 a.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours in the funeral home will be Wednesday, September 26th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
