David P. Jacques

David P. Jacques, 67, of 24 Farnsworth Road, Templeton, died Saturday, June 23rd, in his residence following a courageous battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS).

Born in Gardner on March 17, 1940, he was the son of Arthur Jacques.

David was a Certified Public Accountant, partner and co-owner of Venning & Jacques, P.C. of Gardner where he worked for 35 years until retiring January 1, 2006.

David was a 1957 graduate of Gardner High School. He received a Degree in Accounting in 1961, and in 1974 received a Bachelors Degree in Accounting, both from Bentley College, Waltham.

He was a member of St. Martin's Church, Otter River where he served on several of its committes and was also a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner.

He served on the Board of the GFA Federal Credit Union and was Chairman of its Board, Director on the Mount Wachusett Community College Foundation, Trustee of Heywood Hospital, former member of Gardner Rotary Club, former Director of Greater Gardner Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the American Legion Post 129 of Gardner, Gardner Re-Development Authority, American Institute of Certified Public Accounts, Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants, Westminster Country Club, and the Holy Rosary School Golf Tournament Committee. He was the recipient of the 2007 Greater Gardner Area Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Achievement Award. On June 20th, he was awarded the Wings of Hope Award, for his involvement in setting up the non-profit organization, House of Peace and Education, Inc., and being an active supporter of the group for many years.

David enjoyed golf, traveling, reading and listening to classical, inspirational music. He was very civic oriented, believing it is important to give back to one's community. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother and he especially loved his grandchildren.

He served in the Army Reserves from 1960 thru 1966.

He leaves his wife of 44 years, Marie F. (Kelly) Jacques of Templeton; 2 sons, Christopher P. Jacques and his wife Martha of Milford, Brian D. Jacques of Templeton; a daughter, Lisa M. Decatur and her husband Martin of Troy, NH; a son, Daniel died in 1986; his mother, Mercedes (Dorval) Jacques of Gardner; 1 brother, Philip W. Jacques, 2 sisters, Joanne M. Morrissey and her husband John, Denise A. Richard and her husband Joseph, all of Gardner; 7 grandchildren, Julia, Jennifer, Rush, and Sasha Decatur, Sarah, Megan and Erin Jacques; 1 uncle, Roger Dorval of Florida, one aunt, Florence Beaudry of Baldwinville; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 27th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner at a later date.

Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday, June 26th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
