David O"Charlie" Chase

October 21, 1939 — March 21, 2011

David O. "Charlie" Chase, 71, a 40 year resident of 9 Pine Street, Baldwinville, died peacefully, Monday, March 21, 2011 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner surrounded by his family, following a brief illness.
Born in Winchendon on October 21, 1939, he was the son of the late William and Gertrude (Plaisance) Chase.
Prior to retiring due to illness, David was employed by GAAMHA of Gardner as a client driver for 7 years. He was previously employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a patient transporter for 26 years at Rutland Heights State Hospital and Tewksbury State Hospital.
David received his GED from Mount Wachusett Community College, Gardner in 1965.
David was a United States Vietnam War Army Veteran.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Baldwinville. David was also a member of the Roger P. Warfield American Legion Post 373 of Baldwinville and the Otter River Sportsman Club.
He enjoyed watching "Wheel of Fortune" and Western shows on television. David was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. His hobbies included gardening, fishing, camping and playing cribbage. He loved to travel, and his most memorable trip was to Hawaii in 1989.
David leaves his wife of 45 years, Beverly (Erickson) Chase of Baldwinville; two daughters, Lisa M. Cudak and her husband Robert of Fitchburg and Donna L. Butler of Leominster; two grandchildren, Samantha L. and Jacob M. Butler of Leominster; one aunt, Phyllis Bonefati and her husband Gerald; a special niece, Tammy Broeckel of Templeton. He was predeceased by two sisters, Thelma Davis and Fern Andrews and by his stepfather, Alfred Guy.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 28th at 9:00 am in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. Fr. Francis Roberge of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Baldwinville will officiate. Burial will be in the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.
Calling hours in the funeral home are Sunday, March 27th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
