Daniel Robert "Danny" Riendeau, 64, of Gardner died peacefully Saturday, August 26, 2017 in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home of Gardner, surrounded by his family.
Born in Lancaster, NH on September 21, 1952, he was the son of the late Donald Robert Riendeau and Janine Dorothy (Martin) Riendeau.
Daniel graduated from Groveton High School of Groveton, NH with the Class of 1970. He received his Bachelors of Science Degree from the University of NH of Durham, NH in 1974.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army for 24 years. During his military career, he received the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2), Army Achievement Medal (3), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation (2), Army Superior Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal (6), National Defense Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer's Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral 3, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (2), Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar, Parachutist Badge, and Drive and Mechanic Badge with Driver with Bar. MSG Daniel retired from the Armed Forces of the United States of America on June 1, 2000.
Daniel was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church of Westminster, where he was a Sunday School Teacher for several years, and also served as a greeter and host for 34 years.
Daniel was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed shooting, fishing and hunting. He was a loyal fan of the Boston Bruins and the New England Patriots. He enjoyed baseball and was involved in various Little League teams while serving in the military. Daniel also enjoyed bowling. He was a member of the Lunenburg Rod and Gun Club and the Gardner Chapter of AARP.
Daniel leaves his wife of 32 years, Jennie Mae (White) Riendeau of Gardner; one daughter, Michelle Herczeg and her husband Derek of Frisco, TX, three stepsons, Terrance Delong and his wife Paula of TX, Forrest DeLong of Canoga Park CA and Johnny DeLong of San Jose, CA; one stepdaughter, Therese Macho and her husband Richard of Prescott Valley, AZ; one brother, Kevin Riendeau and his wife Noriko of Japan; six grandchildren, Brandy, Tiffany and Madona DeLong, Robert Charles Macho, Rachel Delong and Maddison Herczeg; two great-grandchildren; one aunt, Mona Riendeau of NH; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Gary and Mark Riendeau.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 31st at 11:00 a.m. in Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1 Hager Park Road, Westminster. Burial with Military Honors will be held in Wildwood Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour will be held Thursday, August 31st from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in Our Savior Lutheran Church of Westminster.
