Daniel T. "Dan" Martin, 54, of 877 Timpany Blvd., Gardner, died unexpectedly Friday, December 23rd in Heywood Hospital shortly after being stricken ill at home.
Born in Gardner on February 16, 1951, he was the son of Thomas Martin.
At the time of his death he was a salesman employed by Fitchburg Hardware Co. of Leominster for 10 years. He was previously employed by G.E. of Fitchburg and Rodney Hunt Co.
He was a 1969 graduate of Oakmont Regional High School and was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 1999.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church.
Dan previously lived in South Ashburnham and Winchendon and he coached Little League in Winchendon and played softball for the Westminster V.F.W. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He enjoyed all sports - basketball, softball, baseball and golf. He loved his family.
He leaves his wife of 31 years, Carole A. (Aube) Martin of Gardner; his mother, Lucille (King) Martin of Gardner; 2 sons, Jason R. Martin and wife Michelle of Westminster, Jon D. Martin of Portland, OR; 3 sisters, Maureen Cox and long-time companion Gary Roy of Ashburnham; Lisa Jean and husband Keith of Winchendon; Debbie Reid of Leominster; 1 aunt, Catherine Foley of Gardner; 1 uncle Herve Martin of Bernardston; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 27th @ 3:00 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Westminster.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday, December 27th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
