Cyril J. Richard

Cyril J. Richard, 85, of Leominster, formerly of Gardner, died peacefully Friday, August 16, 2024, in UMass Memorial Medical Center—University Campus, Worcester, after a period of declining health.

Born in Acadieville, New Brunswick, Canada, on July 7, 1939, he was the son of the late Joseph and Edmee (Johnson) Richard. Cyril was a sander employed by Nichols & Stone of Gardner for 42 years until his retirement in 2002.

Cyril was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish of Gardner, practicing at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. He was a member of the Acadien Social Club of Gardner. Cyril loved to go for walks, and his favorite sports were football and hockey. He never missed an opportunity to watch the “Price Is Right.” Cyril took frequent trips to Canada, but his most cherished moments were spent with his family.

Cyril is survived by his son, Yvon D. Richard, and his wife Keli of Leominster; four grandchildren, Jonathan and Sarah Richard, Matthew Belliveau, and Tanya Daley; six great-grandchildren, Kaylee, and Kyle Krutilek, Xavier, Camdyn, Allison, and Zacharia Belliveau; his fiancé, Claudette Boucher, of Leominster; 2 brothers, Claude Richard and his wife Mary of Gardner, and George Caisse, of New Brunswick, Canada; two sisters, Irene Murphy of Portland, ME and Mary Laiteigne, of Canada; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Richard of Athol; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Rina M. (Babineau) Richard, who died on April 20, 2012, and his son, Ronald S. Richard, who died on August 7, 2024; three sisters, Evelyn Doiron, Elodie Bertin, and Theresa Arsenault; three brothers, Hector, Flie, and Georges Richard.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2024, from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA, with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Annunciation Parish at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner, MA.

Calling Hours will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
