Claudette M. Bastarache

Claudette M. Bastarache, 75, of Gardner, died peacefully Thursday, May 25, 2023, in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after an illness.

Born in Saint-Damien, New Brunswick, Canada on June 22, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Eloi and Josephine (Leger) Bastarache. She was a Housekeeper employed by Heywood Hospital for 5 years until her retirement in 2006. She was previously employed by EB Kingsmen of Leominster for 20 years.

Claudette was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish, Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner. Her favorite trips were the ones to Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre, trying to go every year. She was excellent at quilting and enjoyed making quilts for family and friends. Claudette also loved to play cards and BINGO, and never missed an episode of Wheel of Fortune.

Claudette is survived by one daughter, Linda L. Clavette; two grandchildren, Meaghan and Sierra Chapman; one great-grandchild Paisley; two sisters, Melina Bastarache and her husband Donald of St. Joseph, NB, Canada, and Maria Bastarache, Toronto, ON, Canada; six brothers, Joe Bastarache of Gardner, Ulysse Bastarache of Cocagne, NB, Canada, Normand Bastarache and his wife Lorraine of St. Antoine, NB, Canada, Guy Bastarache of Moncton, NB, Canada, Yvon Bastarache and his wife Lorraine of Ashburnham, Paul Bastarache and his spouse Ray of Gardner; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her son, Dean Bastarache, who died in 1988; one brother Noel Bastarache; and two sisters, Bella Cormier and Therese Gallant.

Calling Hours will be held Thursday, June 1, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., Nichols Street, Gardner, MA.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 1, 2023, from the funeral home with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA.  Burial at Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner, MA, will be held at a later date.
