Claire H. (Cormier) Fontaine, 73, of 79 Halford Street, Gardner, died Tuesday, November 11, 2014 in her residence, surrounded by family, following a long illness.
Born in Gardner on May 29, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Aurore (Breau) Cormier.
Claire graduated from Gardner High School, Gardner with the Class of 1959.
She was employed by Digital Equipment Corporation of Westminster for 20 years, retiring in 2000. She was previously an x-ray technician employed by Heywood Hospital of Gardner.
Claire was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner.
She enjoyed traveling, cooking, camping, collecting shells in Florida and doing ceramics. She also enjoyed hosting yard sales, caring for others in their homes, and loved spending time with her family.
She was a member of FFNA, Future French Nuns of America.
Claire leaves her husband of 53 years, Rene L. Fontaine of Gardner; one son, Steven P. Fontaine and his companion, Susan Oman of Gardner; one daughter, Lisa J. Greenwood and her husband Kevin of Gardner; three brothers, Omer Cormier and his wife Virginia of Westminster, Gerald Cormier and his wife Kathy "Kitty" of Templeton and Alfred Cormier and his wife Theresa of Templeton; one sister, Rachel Gooley of Orrington, Maine; two sister-in-laws, Kathy Cormier of Sacramento, CA and Carolyn Cormier of Granada Hills, CA; two grandsons, Alex and Brandon Greenwood; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her son, John Scott Fontaine who died August 4, 2011; and three brothers, Ronald, Herve and Paul Cormier.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 15th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner, at a later date.
A calling hour will be held Saturday, November 15th from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. in the funeral home.
