Christa M. Brideau

Christa M. (Etzel) Brideau, 80, of Gardner, died peacefully, Tuesday, August 4, 2020, in her residence after a long illness with her family by her side.

Born in Ludwigsburg, Germany, on May 3, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Frederich and Freda (Ensle) Etzel. She was employed in the finance department at Digital Equipment Corporation in Westminster for several years until her retirement.

Christa was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish/ Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner. She enjoyed reading and watching television. Christa loved being out in her garden and cooking. But the time that she truly loved and cherished the most was spent with her family.

Christa is survived by her husband of 40-years, Roger L. Brideau of Gardner; one son, Joseph W. Kocsis of Gardner; a sister, Brigette Schaible of Germany; two grandchildren Steven J. Kocsis of Gardner, and Joseph M. Kocsis of Boston; one great-grandchild, Sadie Krauss of Florida; a niece, Andrea Schaible of Germany; an aunt and uncle, Tony and Joanne Costanzo of New Hampshire; three cousins, Sam, Craig, and Suzy; several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her two brothers, two brothers Roland and Alfred Etzel; and two sisters, Leeza Leibfried, and Ursula Kissinger; brother-in-law Rudy Schaible; sister-in-law Diane Brideau. 

Graveside Services will be held Monday, August 17, 2020, at 3:00 p.m. in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA 01475.

There are no calling hours.

Due to the current COVID-19 Pandemic, restrictions currently set in by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts will be in place at Christa’s service. Current guidelines set by the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, which is ten persons in the chapel, will be enforced. Overflow may stand outside.
