Chester N. "Chet" Morse, Jr., 66, of 33 Highland Street, Gardner, died Monday, March 12th in the Umass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus following a short illness.
Born in Gardner on July 6, 1940, he was the son of the late Chester N. and Rita D. (LeBlanc) Morse, Sr.
Chet was a machine operator, employed by New England Woodenware Co. of Gardner, for several years until his retirement in 1997.
He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Gardner. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #747, Gardner and a member of the Gardner Lodge of Elks #1426, where he ran Bingo for several years.
Chet enjoyed playing cards, going to auctions and Country and Western music.
He leaves his wife of 31 years, Hazel L. (Nordstrom) (Radziewicz) Morse; one son, Chester N. Morse III and his wife Rose of Fitchburg; one daughter, Kelly Jean Morse of Claremont, N.H.; 6 step-daughters; 2 sisters, Sandra L. Comeau and her husband Sylvio of Gardner, and Cynthia A. Bourque and her husband Ronald of Phillipston; one sister-in-law, Mary Morse of Winchendon; 5 grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren; 1 step-greatgrandson; 2 aunts, Yvonne Willis and Lorraine Hendrick; one uncle, Robert Morse; 6 nieces, 6 nephews and several cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Raymond T. Morse.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 15th at 8:00 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner, at a later date.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday, March 15th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
