Chester J"Chet" Kodys Jr

Chester J. "Chet" Kodys, Jr., 69, of 47 Spruce Road, Westminster, died suddenly Wednesday, January 21, 2015 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, after being stricken ill.
Born in Gardner on August 20, 1945, he was the son of the late Chester Kodys, Sr. and Frances P. (Merkel) Kodys.
Chester graduated from Narragansett Regional High School with the Class of 1965. He received his Associates Degree from Mount Wachusett Community College of Gardner in 1970, and his Bachelor's Degree from North Adams State College in 1973.
Chester was a United States Vietnam War Army Veteran and received the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and Sharp Shooter M-14.
He was currently employed by Salvadore Auto of Gardner as a Sales Associate for the past 39 years.
Chester was a member of St. Edward the Confessor Church of Westminster. He was also a member of the New England Truck Association and the Knights of Columbus.
Chester enjoyed golfing, fishing and NASCAR. He was an avid sports fan who loved hockey and enjoyed watching all sports on television. His grandson Joshua was the light of his life and he loved spending time with him.
He leaves his wife of 40 years, Jeannette M. (Cormier) Kodys of Westminster; one daughter, Michele A. Hathaway and her husband John of Shirley; three brothers, Peter Kodys and his wife Donna of Templeton, Richard Kodys and his wife Diane of Templeton and Thomas Kodys and his wife Karen of Jefferson, MA; one grandson, Joshua W. Hathaway; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 28th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 12:00 pm. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, January 28th from 9:30am, to 11:30am. in the funeral home.
