Cheryl V. (Walker) Lajoie, 68, of 54 North Main Street, Templeton, died peacefully Saturday, August 6, 2011 in her residence surrounded by her family, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Cheryl was born in Fresno, Ca on April 20, 1943, the daughter of the late Thomas and Virginia (Kreamer) Walker.
She graduated from McLane High School in Fresno, CA with the Class of 1962, and later studied one year of Psychology with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Cheryl was employed for 16 years as a Mental Health Aide with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Mental Health at Westborough State Hospital, retiring in 2002. She was previously employed for several years by S. Bent Bros. of Gardner as a sander.
Her hobbies included crafts, puzzles, gardening, reading, crocheting, cooking and baking. She enjoyed watching CSI, Criminal Minds and Lifetime movies on television. Cheryl liked spending time camping and traveling by motorcycle. She loved the holidays and spending time with her family. She was a member of A.A.R.P.
Cheryl leaves her husband of 45 years, Gene P. Lajoie of Templeton; three daughters, Christina Wickberg and her husband Timothy of Templeton, Lisa A. Lajoie of Barre and Kimberly J. Lajoie of Baldwinville; one sister, Judith Stone of Fresno, CA; one brother-in-law, Curtis Miller of Fresno, CA; four grandchildren, Cheryl Wickberg, Jade Wickberg, Phylicia Duguay, Michael Graham and Joshua Duval; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Miller.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 20th at 4:00 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner.
Calling hours in the funeral home will be Saturday, August 20th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gardner Visiting Nursing Association, 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA 01440.
