Charles W. Geary, 64, of 14 Main Street, Gardner, formerly of PA, died peacefully, Thursday, January 30, 2014 in HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital, Leominster following a long illness.
Born in Harrisburg, PA on August 13, 1949, he was the son of the late William E. and Agnes (Morton) Geary.
Prior to retiring in 2010 due to illness, Charles was employed by the Pathway House of Gardner as a Director and Substance Abuse Counselor for 10 years. Charles loved being with and helping people. After achieving his own long term sobriety he devoted his life to supporting others on their path of recovery. He was formerly employed by the City of Harrisburg, PA as a Water Treatment Plant Supervisor.
Charles graduated from William Penn High School of Harrisburg, PA with the Class of 1968. He earned his Associates Degree from the Harrisburg, PA area Community College in 1975.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of PA. He was also a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for the past 18 years.
Charles was an excellent baseball player in his day, and he also loved football.
He leaves his wife of 12 years, Jane E. (Kenadek) Geary of Gardner; three sons, Charles Geary of Harrisburg, PA, Brian Lawson of Pittsburg, PA and Johnathan Kenadek of North Brookfield; five daughters, Tracey Geary, Marla Burden, Shyla Geary and Angela Curtis all of Harrisburg, PA and Chante Moore of MD; two brothers, James Geary of Atlanta, GA and Norman Geary of Harrisburg, PA; one sister, Jeanette Davenport of Atlanta, Georgia; twelve grandchildren, Bryan, Whitney, Courtney, Richaun, Tre`, Onae, David, Gabrielle, Haley, Ava, Chazmin and Cam`Ron; three great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Morgan and Naomi. Charles also leaves his best buddy, his dog "Beanie".
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 5th at 11:30 a.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, February 4th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
