Charles "Charlie" Boris

Charles "Charlie" Boris, 88, of 547 Central Street, Winchendon, formerly of 44 Yale Street, Gardner, died peacefully Monday, February 16, 2015 in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner.
Born in Gardner on June 9, 1926, he was the son of the late John and Stanislava (Wisnaski) Boris.
Charlie was a Fireman with the City of Gardner Fire Department for 30 years, retiring in 1985. He was previously employed in the shipping department of Nichols and Stone Company of Gardner for 15 years.
He was a United States WWII Navy Veteran, and received the World War II Victory Medal and the American Theatre Medal.
Charlie was a member of St. Joseph's Church of Gardner. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Ovila Case, Post 905 of Gardner.
Charlie enjoyed hunting, fishing and going on road trips with Wilson Bus Lines. He was an avid gardener who enjoyed tending to his impressive gardens, and he loved spending time sitting on the front porch socializing with his many friends. Charlie most enjoyed spending time with his family, and he took great pride in watching his granddaughters play softball.
He was predeceased by his wife of 30 years, Pauline M. (Bourgeois) Boris, who died in 1984.
Charlie leaves two sons, Charles M. Boris and his wife Jayne of Gardner and Michael Boris and his wife Christy of Templeton; one brother, John Boris of Brewster, MA; two granddaughters, Elyssa and Nicole Boris; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Zigmond and Valerian Boris; and two sisters, Jadwiga Boris and Stacy Sulkoski.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 19th at 5:30 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. Reverend David Cote will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, February 19th from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
