Cecile L. Houde, 93, of 32 Hospital Hill Road, formerly of 443 Parker Street, Gardner died peacefully, Tuesday, September 25, 2012 in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner, following a long illness.
Born in Gardner on November 18, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Marie (Cote) Houde.
Cecile owned and operated Houde Market in Gardner for 26 years. She later was employed by Gardner State Hospital and Rutland State Hospital in the dietary and housekeeping departments for 10 years, retiring in 1982.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Gardner. Cecile was a devout Catholic and recited the Rosary daily.
She was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, and in her early years loved ice skating on Parkers Pond.
Cecile leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by five brothers, Albert, Wilfred, Raymond, Romeo and Edgar Houde; and by four sisters, Deline Jean, Clara Breton, Anita Boucher and Antoinette Houde.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 28th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour in the funeral home will be Friday, September 28th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
