Cecile V. "Cissie" (Lafarier) Basque, 83, of 167 Pleasant Street, Gardner, died peacefully Wednesday, November 25th in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, surrounded by her family.
Cecile was born in Gardner on February 19, 1926, the daughter of the late Joseph and Alexina (Gravel) Lafarier.
Cecile was employed by GAAMHA Inc. of Gardner for several years, as an aide for developmentally challenged individuals.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner.
Her hobbies included interior decorating, making crafts and crocheting. She enjoyed line dancing, vacations in Maine and going out to eat. Cecile enjoyed watching the "Price is Right" on television and was an avid Bingo player with her friend Shirley Peckham. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Cecile was predeceased by her husband of 24 years, Edwouard Basque, who died June 6, 1970.
She leaves four daughters, Dian N. Chaisson of Gardner, Shirley A. Conn, Jr. and her husband Percy of Warren, MA, Paula A. Strait and her husband Dean of E. Templeton and Donna M. Laford and her husband William of Gardner; nine grandchildren, Dennis Chaisson, Christy White, Paul Conn, Kelly Mailloux, Melissa Bois, Dana Chaisson, April Bulger, Adam Conn and Mark Kibort; fourteen great-grandchildren, Kyle White, Ryan White, Lindsey Mailloux, Colby Mailloux, Brianna Roberto, Austin Chaisson, Drake Chaisson, Samantha St. Pierre, Christina Chaisson, Jacob Chaisson, Isabel Bulger, Crystal Conn, Gretchen Conn and Jordan Conn; one great-great granddaughter, Alyssa Conn; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Cecile also leaves three "added daughters", Terry Brodeaur, Denise Labarree and Marie Straitiff. She was predeceased by three brothers, Raymond, Roy, Joseph "Pete" Lafarier and by two sisters, Mary Rose Johnson and Pauline Mundell.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 30th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be at a later date in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours in the funeral home are Sunday, November 29th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
