Carol E. (Cunningham) Bernard, 78, of Gardner, died peacefully Saturday, November 16, 2019, in Athol Memorial Hospital, Athol, surrounded by her family.
Born in Gardner on November 6, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Dora (Bourgeois) Cunningham. She graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1959. She was a self-employed aide for the elderly for several years before her retirement in 2009.
She was a member of Annunciation Parish/ Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner. She enjoyed gardening, especially weeding her flowerbeds and traveling. She loved to bake and cook meals and desserts for family and friends. The time she loved and cherished the most was time spent with her family, especially with her grandchildren.
Carol leaves behind her husband of 58-years, retired Gardner Police Captain R. Paul Bernard of Gardner; three daughters Victoria Yvanauskas of Brockton, Deanna Dimasi and her husband Frank of Wallingford, CT, and Jacqueline Earle and her husband Brian of Baldwinville; seven grandchildren, Sean and Stephanie Kelley, Kristina Yvanauskas, Joshua Demasi, Brodie, Brianna, and Brett Earle; one brother Richard Cunningham and his wife Kathy of Salisbury, MD; two sisters Eleanor Doucette and her husband Fred of Lunenburg, and Dorothy McKellick and her husband Danny of Otter River; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her son Gregory Bernard who died in 1969.
Funeral Services will be private and will be held at the convenience of the family.
