Camille J. "Mr. Cam" Arsenault, 90, of 6 Beth Avenue, Leominster, formerly of 194 Central Street, Gardner, died peacefully Monday, August 1, 2011 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, following complications from a broken hip.
Camille was born in Rumford, Maine on May 31, 1921, the son of the late Reuben and Marie (Vautour) Arsenault. He received his GED in 1965.
He was employed by Unitil as a Service Repairman for 32 years, retiring in 1982. He was also a self employed Ball Room Dance Instructor, and taught Line Dancing and Square Dancing at various Senior Centers from 1965 through 2001.
Camille was a United States WWII Army Veteran, and received the WWII Victory Medal and the American Theater Ribbon.
He was a member of the Bread of Life Church in Westminster, and was in Minstrel Shows at St. Joseph's Church in the Cleghorn section of Fitchburg.
He was a member of the American Legion, Post 429 of Fitchburg, a lifetime member of the Gardner Golden Agers, and a member of the Eastwood Club of Fitchburg. He was Cub Master for 20 years of Cleghorn Troop #17 of Fitchburg. Camille received numerous awards for his civic services throughout Worcester County.
Camille loved spending time with his family, and enjoyed playing cards with them.
He was predeceased by his first wife of 35 years, Edna (Leger) Arsenault who died March 7, 1981.
Camille leaves his second wife of 29 years, Mary Lydia (Parry) Arsenault of Leominster; one son, Paul R. Arsenault and his wife Judy of N.H.; one daughter, Pauline Richard of Fitchburg; two stepsons, John J. O'Brien and his wife Linda of Middleboro, MA and Daniel A. O'Brien and his wife Donna of Gardner; one step-daughter, Carol M. Ashworth and her husband James of Lutz, FL; one brother, Lionel Arsenault and his wife Marilyn "Cushie" of Baldwinville; two sisters, Albertine Collette of Gardner and Evelyn Beauregard of Templeton; two sisters-in-law, Madeline Arsenault of Amherst, MA and Ellie Arsenault of Baldwinville; five grandchildren, David Arsenault, Glen Arsenault, Carol Rodiguez, Lori Mwagodi and Brian Richard; five step-grandchildren, John O'Brien, Michael O'Brien, James Ashworth, Lindsay George and Kelly O'Brien; 21 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Ivon J. Arsenault and Joseph E. Arsenault.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 3rd at 11:00 a.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. Pastor Gary Collette of the Bread of Life Church in Westminster will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, 486 Clarendon Street, Fitchburg.
Calling hours in the funeral home are Tuesday, August 2nd from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
