C. Aldora (Collette) Melanson, 90, of Gardner, died peacefully Sunday, April 30, 2017 in Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of Gardner, following a brief illness.
Aldora was born in Gardner on July 17, 1926, the daughter of the late Delphis and Alma (Houde) Collette.
She graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1944. Aldora was employed for several years by Gardner Savings Bank as an Assistant Loan Officer. She was previously employed by the Polish Credit Union of Gardner.
Aldora was a member of Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner.
She loved to shop, play Bingo, golf and dance. Aldora enjoyed cooking and baking, and she also enjoyed watching game shows on television.
Aldora was predeceased by her first husband, Thomas L. Gormley who died in 1968, and by her second husband of 29 years, Robert E. Melanson who died in 2007.
She leaves one son, Stephen Gormley and his wife Elda of Lancaster, MA; two sisters, Ida Carlson of Florida, and Delia Jean of Gardner; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by three sisters, Anita Vaillancourt, Rita Levesque and Evelyn Doherty.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 20th with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be held at a later date in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Road, Winchendon.
There are no calling hours.
Friends and family are asked to report directly to the church the morning of the service.
