Brian P. DeReda, 50, of 152 High Street, Gardner, died Saturday, July 5, 2014 in his residence following a brief illness.
Brian was born in Worcester on June 13, 1964, the son of Marie H. Russell.
He graduated from North Middlesex Center for Occupational Awareness and Placement of Chelmsford in 1986.
At the time of his death, Brian was employed by Price Chopper of Gardner as a courtesy clerk.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Gardner and its church choir for the past 12 years.
Brian enjoyed swimming in the Special Olympics, traveling, baking, bowling and singing. He loved to walk and participated in 5K walks. He was a member of Fitness Concepts of Gardner, Crystal House of Gardner, ARC of Gardner and the Bridge of Central Mass of Worcester.
Besides his many friends, Brian leaves his foster mother, Beverly Blood of Pepperell.
According to his wishes, his body has been donated to Harvard Medical School.
A Memorial Service and gathering will be held Sunday, July 20th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the First Congregational Church, 28 Green Street, Gardner. Burial will be at a later date in Pine Hill Cemetery, Tewksbury.
There are no calling hours.
