Brenda A. (Jurgelewicz) Bourque, 53, of 29 Oak Street, Gardner, died peacefully surrounded by her family, Saturday, June 20th in UMass Memorial Medical Center, Belmont St, Worcester, following a brief battle with cancer.
Born in Gardner on November 2, 1955, she was the daughter of Felix and Theresa (Bonomo) Jurgelewicz.
Brenda was currently employed by Verizon in Gardner as a telephone operator for seventeen years. She was previously a teachers aide in the Gardner Public School System for 7 years, and was formerly employed by The Salvation Army and Almy's, both of Gardner.
Brenda graduated from Gardner High School, Gardner with the Class of 1973.
She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Gardner. Brenda was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Brenda was a cat lover and enjoyed reading, traveling to the ocean in Cape Cod and watching American Idol on television. She loved her family, and most enjoyed time spent with them.
Besides her parents of Gardner, Brenda leaves her husband of 35 years, Michael S. Bourque of Gardner; one son, Christopher M. Bourque of Winchendon; one daughter, Harmony L. Bourque of Fort Lauderdale, FL; one brother, Jay Jurgelewicz and his wife Melinda of Gardner; two sisters, Pamela Huckaby of Templeton and Sharon Leger and her husband Ronald of Templeton; three aunts, Joanne Mitchel, Evelyn Jurgelewicz and Reggie O'Connell; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 26th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Service at 1:00 p.m. in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 79 Cross Street, Gardner. Rev. William Hobbs will officiate.
Calling hours will be Thursday, June 25th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
