Blanche R. (Sweet) Puustinen, 85, of 237 Conant Street, Gardner, died peacefully Monday, June 29th in her residence following a long illness.
Born in Gardner on June 23, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Alice (Bass) Sweet.
Prior to retiring in 1983, she was an assembler for ten years employed by George S. Bent Company of Gardner.
Blanche was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Gardner.
She devoted much of her time raising her grandchildren. Her favorite travel destination was York Beach, Maine.
Blanche was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Robert H. Puustinen, Sr., who died June 3, 2005.
She leaves one son, Robert H Puustinen, Jr. of Gardner; one sister, Mildred Gamache of Leominster; a daughter-in-law, Lynn Puustinen of Norridgewock, Maine; two grandchildren, Carla Puustinen of Athol and Richard Puustinen of Norridgewock, Maine; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Richard Puustinen who died in 2006; and one brother, Francis Sweet and one sister, Edna Ramgren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 3rd from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 358 Pleasant Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours in the funeral home will be Thursday, July 2nd from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
